How to play 8 Ball Pool

Core gameplay, objective, and game rules

At the beginning, you’ll see 15 object balls arranged in a triangle with the black 8-ball sitting right in the center. These balls are divided into two groups: solids (1–7) or stripes (9–15). Play the break to scatter the balls on the table. The ultimate goal is to clear all of the assigned balls, stripes, or solids, and then finally sink the 8-ball (the black-colored one) to win the match.

Play the break, aim, and shoot

The game always begins with a break shot. One player breaks the rack using the cue ball. If you pot a ball during the break, you get to continue your turn. After the break, each player is assigned a type: Solids or Stripes. You must pot only your group before attempting the 8-ball. Aim accurately and adjust your power properly to sink your ball and continue the match. You or your opponent continues shooting as long as they legally pocket a ball on each shot; otherwise, it’s the other player’s turn.

Pot the 8-ball to win

Once you’ve pocketed all your solids or stripes in 8 Ball Pool, it’s time to aim for the black 8 Ball. It’s important to note that potting the 8-ball early means you lose the game.

Game controls

Aim: Move the mouse.

Shoot: Click & hold the left mouse button and drag to adjust power and direction; release to shoot.

In short, 8 Ball Pool is a must-try title for fans of online billiards games. Jump in and pocket all of your assigned balls. Don’t rush to finish the game; instead, focus on accuracy even when the clock counts down during your turn.
